Ways to use
Genesis is the same workspace everywhere; what differs is where it runs and what the machine is.
Locally (your Mother computer)
The built-in desktop is the primary way to use a Mother machine. Everything runs on the unit itself: sessions, models, files, tools. This is the default for a single Owner or a small team sharing one machine.
Mother app for Mac
The Mac client connects to a Mother machine on your network for nearby setup and everyday use from a laptop. Your sessions, projects, and history live on the Mother machine; the app is a window into the same workspace.
Mother One
Mother One is the physical product: a Mother computer as an appliance — quiet, wall-pluggable hardware designed for desk use, running the same Mother OS and the same Genesis. Guides written for the built-in desktop apply to Mother One unless they say otherwise.
Choosing between them
| If you want to… | Use |
|---|---|
| Set up or administer the machine | Built-in desktop |
| Work from a Mac near the machine | Mother app for Mac |
| Integrate your own software | OpenAI-compatible API + API keys |
Roles, projects, files, and model availability are shared across all of them — there is no separate "app workspace" to keep in sync.
