Computer use
Computer use is a skill: it lets Genesis see the screen and control the keyboard and mouse of the Mother machine, so it can work desktop applications the way a person would — not just chat and files.
How it works
- The agent takes screenshots to see what is on screen, then moves the pointer, clicks, and types.
- Every step happens on the machine itself and is visible in the session; you can interrupt at any time.
- It is scoped to the machine running Mother — it cannot reach other computers on your network.
What it is good for
- Working desktop apps that have no API: reviewing a PDF in its viewer, operating a design or office tool, configuring system settings.
- Combining with other capabilities — for example reading a spreadsheet in an app, then handing the numbers to a model in the same session.
Enabling it
- Owner only: allow the skill machine-wide in Settings → Skills.
- In a session, enable Computer use. The first task will show the agent's screen actions as they happen.
Safety notes
- The agent acts with your account's access: it can change anything on the machine that you can. Enable it for sessions you are supervising.
- Keep credentials out of prompts — if an app needs a password, enter it yourself.
- Some actions are hard to undo (deleting files, sending messages). For destructive tasks, say so in the prompt and watch each step.
